Sports Injuries

Sports injuries are a very common occurrence, both in professional sports and amateur sports. Many accidents and injuries occur due to poor training, improper use of sports equipment or gear, lack of warm-up exercises, or because a person is not in shape. Sports injuries can range from minor to major. Many common sports injuries are sprains, dislocations, fractures or broken bones, muscle tears or pain, knee or leg injuries, contusions or bruising, or rotator cuff injuries. More severe injuries can also occur to the head, back, or spine.

For minor sports injuries, common treatment begins with rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE) of the injured area, in addition to any medication such as pain relievers or topical ointments that can help alleviate the pain. This will help reduce swelling and propagate the healing process. In some instances, this is all that is needed for a speedy recovery from a sports injury. However, some sports injuries, especially major injuries, require more serious treatment, which begin with proper diagnosis of the specific injury that has occurred.

You can contact Premier Health Center for a consultation to get diagnosed for your sports-related injury. We’ll ensure you get customized treatment in the form of chiropractic or physical therapy, acupuncture, soft tissue massage, and more.
